Tokenized stock holders reach 4.3 million, led by BNB Chain, Token Terminal says

Token Terminal counts about 4.3 million tokenized-stock holders

Tokenized stocks have reached about 4.3 million asset holders across blockchains, up from roughly 100,000 a year earlier, according to a Sept. 24 update from the data provider Token Terminal. A tokenized stock is a blockchain token tied to a company's shares.

BNB Chain leads with about 1.8 million holders, followed by Robinhood Chain at 1.3 million and Solana at 997,000, Token Terminal said. The chain ranking was unchanged from Sept. 18, when the provider reported 4.1 million holders overall, including 1.7 million on BNB Chain, 1.3 million on Robinhood Chain and 753,700 on Solana.

Solana's count has kept climbing while BNB Chain and Robinhood Chain hold their lead, according to the data. Token Terminal said the growth puts exchange- and brokerage-linked distribution at the center of the market's expansion.

Key numbers from the Token Terminal updates

  • About 4.3 million tokenized-stock asset holders overall on Sept. 24, up from roughly 100,000 a year earlier.
  • BNB Chain: about 1.8 million holders. Robinhood Chain: 1.3 million. Solana: 997,000.
  • Sept. 18 issuer breakdown: Robinhood and Binance bStocks each at about 1.3 million asset holders, ahead of xStocks at 611,000 and Ondo Finance at 446,600.
  • Sept. 18 chain totals: 4.1 million holders overall, with 1.7 million on BNB Chain, 1.3 million on Robinhood Chain and 753,700 on Solana.
  • Sept. 2: Token Terminal reported Robinhood went from zero to the largest stock-token issuer by holder count in roughly two months, with 862,800 holders against Binance bStocks' 827,200.
  • Week to Sept. 18: Binance bStocks added 181,000 asset holders, Robinhood added 148,700 and xStocks added 65,200.

What the holder count does and does not measure

Token Terminal's figures track the spread of token balances, not the number of distinct investors or active traders. In its data documentation, the provider defines holders as addresses with a nonzero balance and adds up counts across an asset's deployments.

That means a very small balance still counts. On its own, the headline number cannot tell paid purchases apart from promotional distributions, and it does not show how many people own the tokens.

Token Terminal wrote that holder growth "shows which issuers are expanding product distribution."

How Binance says bStocks reach users

Binance's product guide for bStocks describes a path from its exchange to onchain holdings. Eligible users can convert existing stock positions into tokens, buy bStocks on Binance's spot market and withdraw them to compatible BNB Smart Chain wallets.

Binance says the tokens are backed by shares held at a regulated custodian, but that they do not give holders direct ownership of the underlying company's shares.

Binance voucher campaign runs through Oct. 14

Binance launched a campaign on Sept. 24 that offers chances to win up to 500 USDT in vouchers for completing tasks, including qualifying bStocks purchases. The terms award a draw entry for more than 200 USDT in cumulative eligible bStocks purchases, and the campaign runs through Oct. 14.

The campaign does not establish the cause of the holder growth that came before it.

What is confirmed and what is still unclear

Confirmed by the supplied material: Token Terminal's reported holder totals and chain and issuer rankings, its definition of a holder, Binance's description of how bStocks work, and the details of the Binance campaign.

Still unclear: how many individual people own tokenized stocks, how many of the counted addresses belong to active or paying users, and how much of the growth came from promotional distributions rather than purchases. The supplied sources do not answer these questions.

Why the exchange link matters

The growth Token Terminal reported is concentrated among issuers tied to exchanges and brokerages, which can move existing customers into tokenized products. Binance's guide shows one example: users with stock positions on its exchange can convert them into tokens and move them to a wallet, rather than starting from scratch onchain.
