Tokenized Stock Transfer Volume Surges 415% in a Month

On-chain stock activity hits new highs

Tokenized stocks — real company shares represented as digital tokens on blockchains, which are decentralized ledgers that record transactions — saw a sharp rise in on-chain activity over the past 30 days. Monthly transfer volume jumped more than 415% to reach $29.5 billion, according to data from RWA.xyz.

Monthly active addresses climbed more than 209% to about 1.3 million. The number of tokenized stock holders rose 167% to 2.36 million. The total value of tokenized stocks distributed on-chain increased 1.45% to $2.54 billion, up roughly 637% from $344 million a year ago.

Key numbers behind the surge

  • Tokenized stock transfer volume reached $29.5 billion in one month, up more than 415%.
  • Active addresses grew 209% to around 1.3 million over the same period.
  • Tokenized stock holders increased 167% to 2.36 million.
  • Total value distributed on-chain reached $2.54 billion, a yearly increase of about 637%.

Top tokenized stocks and platforms

Securitize Corp. was the largest individual tokenized stock tracked by RWA.xyz at about $163 million. It was followed by Strategy PP Variable xStock at $136 million and an Ondo-tokenized version of Circle Internet Group at $109 million.

By platform, Ondo led with $842.8 million in distributed value. Kraken’s xStocks came in second at $609.3 million, and Binance’s bStocks was third at $599.9 million. Together, those three platforms accounted for roughly 81% of the market.

Platforms expand access to tokenized equities

The rise in activity coincides with crypto platforms adding new ways for investors to trade, hold and use tokenized stocks on-chain.

On August 24, Coinbase’s tokenized US stocks went live on Base. The move allows eligible non-US users to trade the assets around the clock and use them across decentralized finance applications, which are blockchain-based services that let users lend, borrow or trade without a traditional bank. The B20 tokens include companies such as Nvidia, Apple, Meta and Alphabet, and they can be held in self-custody wallets.

A day later, Bitwise launched automated portfolios built from Coinbase’s tokenized stocks. The service lets eligible non-US investors follow preset strategies while keeping the underlying assets in their own wallets. The initial portfolios target the “Magnificent Seven,” robotics and artificial intelligence sectors.

Other platforms have also expanded tokenized stock usage. In July, Bybit added tokenized shares of Nvidia, Apple, Tesla and other US companies as collateral for margin loans. Robinhood-backed decentralized exchange Arcus also launched more than 95 stock tokens and perpetual markets on Robinhood Chain.

What is confirmed

Data from RWA.xyz confirms a more than 415% increase in monthly tokenized stock transfer volume to $29.5 billion, along with large increases in active addresses and holders. Coinbase launched tokenized US stocks on Base on August 24, and Bitwise followed with automated portfolios on August 25. Bybit and Arcus also introduced new tokenized stock features in July.

What is still unclear

The source does not explain why the surge happened, whether it will continue, or how much of the growth comes from new investors versus existing users trading more often.

Why this matters

The data shows tokenized stocks are moving from niche experiments into active markets. More people are using them, and major exchanges are building infrastructure that makes it easier to hold, trade and use these tokens in other blockchain services.
