XRP exchange inflows hit 7-month high as whale activity falls to 5-year low

XRP deposits to exchanges reach highest level since March

XRP inflows to exchanges tracked by the onchain analytics platform CryptoQuant reached 6.05 billion tokens in the 30 days ending Oct. 19. That is the highest rolling 30-day total in seven months, or since March, and the figure has doubled since mid-August.

During that period, XRP's price moved from around $1 to as high as $1.70 before falling back to about $1.30, according to the report.

CryptoQuant said the rise in inflows "signals a clear shift in asset movement toward exchanges." The firm said this could reflect more trading activity and liquidity on exchanges, or simply more XRP moving between wallets and exchanges.

Key numbers

  • 6.05 billion XRP flowed to exchanges in the 30 days to Oct. 19 — a seven-month high.
  • Inflows have doubled since mid-August.
  • The 90-day moving average of whale outflows sits at $49.7 million, down 98.6% from a February 2025 peak of $3.5 billion.
  • CryptoQuant reports the XRP realized profit/loss ratio fell 41% in October.

What CryptoQuant says about whale withdrawals

A second CryptoQuant analysis covered exchange withdrawals by whales — large holders of a token. It concluded that XRP is "attracting less and less attention" and suggested large-volume investors may be waiting for more favorable prices before adding to their positions.

The 90-day moving average of whale outflows peaked at $3.5 billion in February 2025, shortly after XRP's all-time high of $3.40. Since then it has fallen 98.6% to $49.7 million — the lowest level since October 2021.

CryptoQuant wrote that from a long-term view, XRP "could lack buying volume without whale support," while also noting the token's "notable resilience" during the 2026 crypto bear market.

Bitcoin profit-taking also cools

A separate Glassnode bulletin, released Monday, reported reduced profit-taking across Bitcoin holders. The realized profit/loss ratio dropped from 0.8 to 0.4 over the past week, a 50% decline. This ratio compares profits booked onchain with losses.

Glassnode said the change shows profit-taking activity cooled relative to loss-taking, pointing to "more subdued sentiment and diminished aggressive spending by market participants." The report came as Bitcoin traded in a range between $80,000 and $87,000, according to the article.

What is confirmed

The 30-day XRP exchange inflow figure of 6.05 billion tokens, the doubling since mid-August, the decline in the whale outflow moving average to $49.7 million, and the Bitcoin profit/loss ratio move from 0.8 to 0.4 are all figures reported by the analytics platforms. Glassnode and CryptoQuant are cited as the sources of the onchain data.

What is still unclear

CryptoQuant does not state a single cause for the higher exchange inflows. It offers two possible explanations — more trading activity, or more transfers between wallets and exchanges — without confirming either. The article also does not establish why whale outflows have fallen, and CryptoQuant's view that large holders may be waiting for better prices is presented as a suggestion, not a confirmed fact.

Why it matters

Movements of a token onto exchanges can be watched as a signal of what holders may plan to do with it. In this case, the data shows more XRP heading to exchanges while whale withdrawal activity is at its lowest in years. CryptoQuant notes this combination could leave XRP with less buying support from large holders.
