JEE Advanced Photo and Signature Resizer
JEE Advanced Photo and Signature Resizer crops and compresses an image with the stored JEE presets in your browser. Be careful: the dropdown is labelled JEE Main, and the converter shares that record. The current JEE Advanced brochure on jeeadv.ac.in is the authority, not the stored values.

JEE Advanced is a second gate
JEE Advanced is the examination that decides admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology. It is conducted by the IITs on a rotating basis, and only candidates who clear the JEE Main cut-off are eligible to sit it. The exam has two compulsory computer-based papers, both sat on the same day, and the photograph on the admit card is checked against you at the centre.
That check is the reason the image matters. A photo that no longer looks like you, or a signature that does not match the attendance sheet, can create a problem on exam day even when the application itself was accepted.
What this converter does
The page is locked to the site's shared JEE preset record. Pick photograph or signature, upload the file, crop it, and download a JPEG. The crop and re-encode happen in the browser on a canvas, so the image is not sent to a server.
Important: the preset record is shared with JEE Main
The dropdown labels in this record read "JEE Main Photo" and "JEE Main Signature". That is a real mismatch on a JEE Advanced page, and it is not a claim that JEE Advanced uses the same rules. The JEE Advanced information brochure for your year is the authority, and its specification should be checked before you upload anything.
The stored values below are what the converter applies. They have not been re-verified against the current JEE Advanced brochure for this update.
| Document | Stored dimensions | Stored file band | Format |
|---|---|---|---|
| Photograph | 3.5 × 4.5 cm, at 96 or 200 DPI | 50–500 KB | JPEG |
| Signature | 3.5 × 1.5 cm, at 96 or 200 DPI | 50–500 KB | JPEG |
Authority: the current brochure linked from jeeadv.ac.in. Treat the rows above as stored presets, not as the Institute's published requirements.
Step by step
- Open the current JEE Advanced brochure and note the photo and signature figures.
- Pick the matching preset in the dropdown — centimetre or pixel, 96 or 200 DPI.
- Upload a recent colour photograph with a plain background, or a signature in dark ink on white paper.
- Crop so the face or signature fills the frame without touching the edges.
- Watch the estimated file weight, then download the JPEG.
Why JEE uploads fail
- Using JEE Main numbers. The two exams publish separate brochures; do not assume a figure carries across.
- A photo that is years old. The admit-card check compares the image with the candidate in front of the invigilator.
- Signature in capitals. The brochure expects a normal running-hand signature, not printed letters.
- Weight outside the band. The stored preset has a floor as well as a ceiling, so over-compressing can also fail.
- Wrong format. A PNG renamed to .jpg remains a PNG to the validator.
Limits
One image at a time, two document types, JPEG output, no background removal and no face detection. The page does not read the JEE Advanced brochure, cannot confirm which cycle you are applying for, and does not submit anything to the exam portal.
