Librería de Satoshi rebrands to ISMOS and launches global platform to train Bitcoin developers

Rebrand and global launch announced

Librería de Satoshi has rebranded to ISMOS. The technical education organization has launched a global platform with a new website.

The group says it wants to expand its Bitcoin and open-source developer education work around the world. It plans local hubs in different places and programs in local languages.

ISMOS said the new platform aims to train one million Bitcoin developers worldwide.

Main goals at a glance

  • ISMOS is the new name for Librería de Satoshi.
  • The group has launched a global platform and new website.
  • It aims to train one million Bitcoin developers.
  • Programs are offered in Spanish, Portuguese, and English, with more languages planned.
  • The platform itself is open source.

What the press release says

The press release, shared with Bitcoin Magazine, described ISMOS as a technical education ecosystem. It said the group brings together educators and technology creators for learning and teaching.

The work started in 2021 as a Bitcoin school for Spanish speakers. ISMOS said it was born in Latin America as Librería de Satoshi.

Study programs combine lessons, direct mentorship, and fellowships. Subjects listed include Bitcoin, cryptography, cybersecurity, mathematics, AI, Nostr, open-source software, and open AI models.

Software developers can look at the open tools at github.com/ismos-xyz, according to the release.

Facts confirmed in the announcement

Since 2021, ISMOS said it has reached more than 3,665 people in more than 40 countries. It also said it has financially supported 30 open-source developers.

The group said it is now mainly supported by Btrust and the Human Rights Foundation. It said OpenSats and the Gemini Opportunity Fund supported its work in the past with smaller grants.

Founder and CEO Dulce Villarreal said she started the organization after facing a language barrier in Bitcoin herself. She said ISMOS is meant to take that mission worldwide.

Why the launch matters, according to ISMOS

ISMOS said talent is found everywhere, but opportunity is not equal. It said developers in countries such as Argentina, Nigeria, or El Salvador should have the same chance to build a technical career as developers in places such as Silicon Valley or London.

The group plans to give individual support in a person's own language and at their own level. That support is meant to help selected developers go further in their careers.

What the group plans next

ISMOS said it will create local hubs and deliver programs in local languages. It said more languages will be added to the current Spanish, Portuguese, and English programs.

Beyond study programs, it plans support through B4OS (Bitcoin 4 Open Source), fellowships, and developer residencies. It also plans a growing presence in universities, bootcamps, and programming communities.
