XRP ETFs Keep 13-Week Streak Alive as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana Funds Shed $1.25 Billion
A sharp split between XRP and the rest
US-listed exchange-traded funds (ETFs, which pool money to track a specific asset) saw a stark divergence during the week ended October 9. XRP ETFs added $11.31 million, extending their positive streak to 13 consecutive weeks. Meanwhile, Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana ETFs combined lost $1.25 billion in net withdrawals, leaving all four groups with about $1.24 billion in net redemptions for the week.
Numbers from the week
- Bitcoin ETFs: $681.1 million in net withdrawals
- Ethereum ETFs: $542.07 million in net withdrawals
- Solana ETFs: $24.81 million in net withdrawals
- XRP ETFs: $11.31 million in net inflows
- Combined outflows from Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana: approximately $1.25 billion
- XRP inflows offset less than 1 percent of the combined outflows
Bitcoin's buying momentum breaks
Bitcoin ETFs recorded their first negative week since the week ended September 11, reversing three weeks of inflows. The previous week had seen $241.09 million in purchases, making the $922.19 million swing one of the sharpest recent reversals.
Redemptions were heavy on two days. Investors pulled $487.07 million on Wednesday and another $244.13 million on Thursday. A $21.13 million inflow on Friday softened the total but was not enough to turn the week positive. Bitcoin ETF net assets ended the week at $105.84 billion, down from $108.89 billion the week before, a figure that reflects both fund flows and changes in Bitcoin's market price.
A chart from research platform Ecoinometrics dated October 9 placed rolling 30-day Bitcoin ETF inflows at roughly 30,000 to 40,000 BTC, while also flagging slowing demand. The 30-day measure still includes earlier large purchases, even though the latest week shows a reversal.
Ethereum posts its biggest weekly outflow since January
Ethereum ETFs saw the most persistent selling. Their $542.07 million in outflows was nearly four times the previous week's $138.02 million loss. Withdrawals were recorded in all five trading sessions, with no single day showing net inflows.
Tuesday and Wednesday accounted for roughly 67 percent of the week's total. Tuesday saw $201.89 million in redemptions and Wednesday saw $160.77 million. The sustained withdrawals reduced cumulative Ethereum ETF inflows since launch to $13.26 billion from $13.80 billion the prior week. Net assets fell to $15.71 billion from $17.46 billion, a decline larger than the withdrawals alone because it also reflects changes in ETH's price.
Solana ends a 14-week streak while XRP holds firm
Solana ETFs recorded their first negative week since June, ending a 14-week inflow streak. All five trading sessions posted withdrawals. Monday's $9.25 million was the largest daily loss, followed by $4.80 million on Wednesday. Cumulative Solana ETF inflows slipped to $1.58 billion, with net assets closing at $1.73 billion.
XRP ETFs were the exception. The $11.31 million added during the week was more than double the prior week's $4.74 million. Inflows came on Tuesday ($3.14 million) and Thursday ($8.17 million), while the other three sessions recorded no net flows. Despite the positive inflows, XRP ETF net assets still declined to $1.57 billion from $1.66 billion the previous week, driven by changes in XRP's market price. Cumulative XRP ETF inflows rose to $1.80 billion.
Data sources behind the figures
The weekly flow figures come from SoSoValue, a data provider that tracks crypto ETF inflows and outflows. CryptoQuant's weekly netflow chart confirmed Bitcoin's withdrawals in the latest period. Ecoinometrics, a Bitcoin-focused research platform, published the 30-day rolling flow chart referenced above.
