Robinhood Chain apps generate $2.7 million in a day, but company earnings remain unclear
Apps on Robinhood Chain bring in $2.7 million in a day
Apps running on Robinhood Chain generated between $2.66 million and $2.82 million in revenue over a 24-hour period on September 1, according to data from DefiLlama. However, most of this money went to third-party services, not Robinhood itself.
Robinhood Chain is a blockchain network, a type of digital ledger that supports apps like trading platforms and token launchpads. The top earners during this period were a trading bot called GMGN, which made about $1.11 million, and a token launchpad named Pons, which earned roughly $1 million.
What Robinhood earns from the chain
Robinhood has stated that it earns a small percentage, described as a few basis points, from each transaction on its chain. The company also shares about half of this with Arbitrum, another blockchain network. However, Robinhood has not provided exact numbers on how much it keeps or how this translates into its overall revenue.
DefiLlama’s data shows that the chain itself collected $963,612 in revenue from $1.07 million in fees during the same 24-hour window. But there is no public formula to connect these figures to Robinhood’s official financial reports.
Growth in activity, but unclear financial impact
Despite the lack of clarity on Robinhood’s earnings, activity on the chain has grown. Daily trading volume on decentralized exchanges, which are platforms for swapping digital assets without a central authority, reached about $1.4 billion, up from nearly $370 million in late July. The value of real-world assets, which are traditional assets like loans represented as digital tokens on the blockchain, also rose from nearly $28 million to about $163 million.
However, not all signs are positive. The chain saw a net outflow of about $20 million in the same 24-hour period, meaning more funds left the network than entered it.
What is still unclear
It remains unknown how much of the growing activity on Robinhood Chain will translate into consistent revenue for Robinhood’s corporate accounts. The company has not disclosed precise rates, transaction counts, or how these earnings are recorded in its financial statements.
