Swiss stablecoin sandbox moves to testing phase, adds SIX and TWINT
Sandbox moves to testing phase
The Swiss franc‑based stablecoin CHFD has entered the testing stage of the country’s stablecoin sandbox. The sandbox is a regulatory environment where companies can experiment with digital assets under supervision.
Key points
- Financial market operator SIX and payment app TWINT have joined the sandbox.
- Testing focuses on programmable payments and digital asset settlement.
- The pilot aims to reduce fraud, improve ticket access and make public payments more efficient.
New participants
SIX, which runs Switzerland’s stock exchange and other market infrastructure, and TWINT, a popular mobile payment app, are the latest entrants. Their involvement expands the group of firms testing CHFD.
What the pilot will test
The sandbox will evaluate whether programmable payments can lower fraud on online marketplaces, ensure fair access to event tickets, and increase the efficiency of public sector payments.
Background
The sandbox launched in April, and nine Swiss companies are already testing CHFD. The stablecoin is designed to keep a 1:1 value with the Swiss franc.
