Trueo prediction market migrates from Base to Ethereum mainnet

Trueo moves its prediction market to Ethereum

Trueo, an onchain prediction market protocol, announced it will migrate its primary deployment from Base Layer 2 to the Ethereum mainnet. The protocol cited greater integration potential, network effects, and a better fit for a permissionless and largely immutable product.

Trueo originally launched on Base, a Layer 2 network incubated by Coinbase, in March 2025. At that time, Ethereum mainnet gas fees were still elevated, making Base a practical starting point for the new experiment.

Key points

  • Trueo launched on Base in March 2025 and is now moving to Ethereum mainnet.
  • The protocol said Ethereum offers the highest integration potential and product upside.
  • The TRUE token remains the native token, and holders can migrate it to Ethereum with an open-ended window.
  • Existing Base markets will remain accessible through the official app after migration.

What Trueo said about the migration

Trueo described Base as a useful sandbox for testing its product. The protocol said its final form should be widely adopted, broadly integrated, fully permissionless, mostly immutable, and highly credible. Ethereum, according to Trueo, is the best network to support that combination of properties.

Upon migration, Trueo plans to focus on attracting liquidity in key market categories and releasing the next generation of its oracle system.

Vitalik Buterin supports the move

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin welcomed Trueo's migration on X. He called it a strong prediction market contender that is dedicated to decentralization, ethical practices, and avoiding what he described as "corposlop."

Trueo confirmed that there will be no interruptions to app operations before or during the migration, and that its development roadmap remains unchanged.

The oracle and dispute resolution

Trueo said building a more impartial and credible prediction market resolution system has always been its core priority. The protocol noted that due process in dispute resolution is severely lacking across the prediction market space.

As context, two traders sued Polymarket in July over how it resolved a market about whether Strategy would sell any of its bitcoin by May 31. The traders held "Yes" shares. While Strategy confirmed selling 32 BTC between May 26 and 31, Polymarket resolved the market as "No" because a related filing came out on June 1, after the market deadline. The plaintiffs claimed Polymarket altered the market terms post-resolution.

Trueo said its oracle is designed to process evidence from virtually any legitimate data source to produce fair and accurate outcomes. The protocol stated: "Our ambition is to build prediction markets that people can rely on, including when the outcome is contentious, and the stakes are high."

What happens next

Trueo encouraged users not to open new Base markets that expire after January 31, 2027, and to list longer-dated markets on Ethereum once that instance is live. Markets expiring before January are unaffected. The migration window for TRUE token holders will remain open indefinitely.
