Image Cropper and Resizer
Image Crop and Resizer opens a photo in a browser editor with a draggable crop box, exact pixel dimensions, aspect-ratio presets, rotation, flip, zoom and move. The finished crop downloads as a PNG.

What the editor does
The page loads an image into a canvas-based cropper. You draw or adjust a crop box, optionally lock an aspect ratio, rotate or flip the preview, then export the selected area. It is a focused crop tool, not a full photo editor: there are no layers, filters, text overlays or healing brushes.
Everything happens in the browser. The file is read locally with a FileReader, the preview is drawn on a canvas and the download is generated from that canvas. No image is uploaded to a server.
The layout has a toolbar, a preview area and a side panel. On a phone the panel collapses into a bottom sheet with the same crop, rotate, flip and download controls.
Supported files and paste
The file input accepts image/* and the page can also read an image from the clipboard. JPG, PNG, WEBP and GIF are the common formats; an animated GIF is treated as a still image, so do not expect the animation to survive.
A very large photo can exhaust browser memory or make the preview sluggish. If a 50-megapixel image stalls, resize it in a desktop editor first, then use this page for the final crop.
Cropping and exact dimensions
Drag the crop box handles to choose the area. Use Crop to size when you need an exact output, such as 300 by 300 or 1280 by 720. Enter the width and height, apply, and the box is fitted to those proportions before the export.
The crop box can be moved by dragging inside it. The dimmed area outside the box is discarded. There is no undo history, so take a moment before you confirm a destructive crop.
If the requested size has a different aspect ratio from the box, the editor fits the box to the target ratio. Check the preview before downloading; a forced ratio can cut off the top of a head or the edge of a product.
Aspect ratio, rotation and flip
The aspect-ratio presets lock the box to common shapes such as square, landscape or portrait. A locked ratio is useful for profile pictures and thumbnails; free crop is better when you need to keep an irregular subject.
Rotate buttons turn the image by 90 degrees in either direction or by 180 degrees. Flip horizontal and flip vertical mirror the preview. These transforms apply to the exported result, not just the on-screen view.
Rotation can reveal empty corners if the source is not square. Crop inside the rotated image to remove them, or start from a larger original.
Zoom, move and reset
Zoom in for precise handle placement and zoom out to see the whole frame. The move tool pans the image under the crop box. Reset returns the image to its original orientation and clears the crop, which is the quickest way to recover from a bad sequence of transforms.
Zooming the view does not change the output resolution. The export uses the pixels inside the crop box, so zoom in to inspect edges, not to increase quality.
Output is PNG
The download button exports a PNG named newisty-crop-
If you need a small JPEG for a form or a website, export the PNG and compress it in a dedicated image compressor. Converting a photo to PNG does not improve its quality; it only preserves the pixels the browser has.
Privacy
The image stays on your device. The page does not upload it, create an account or keep a gallery. The only network requests are for the page assets and the Cropper library loaded from a CDN.
That makes the tool suitable for private photos, as long as you trust the browser and the device. Clearing the page discards the working image.
Limits
There is no server-side processing, no batch mode and no format conversion beyond PNG. The editor does not remove backgrounds, retouch skin, add text or apply filters. It also does not preserve EXIF metadata in the exported PNG.
Browser memory is the practical limit. A panorama or a very high-resolution scan may load slowly or fail. Close other heavy tabs before working with a large file.
Step by step
- Choose a file or paste an image from the clipboard.
- Select a free crop or an aspect-ratio preset.
- Drag the box, or enter exact width and height and press Crop to size.
- Rotate, flip, zoom or move the image if needed.
- Check the preview for cut-off subjects or empty corners.
- Press Download to save the PNG.
Choosing a crop for common uses
A profile picture usually wants a square, such as 400 by 400 or 800 by 800. A video thumbnail wants 16:9, such as 1280 by 720. A print portrait often wants 4:5 or 3:4, depending on the lab. Start from the largest original and crop inward; enlarging a small file cannot add detail.
For a product photo, leave a little breathing room around the object instead of cropping to its exact edge. For a document scan, keep the full page and use a free crop rather than a locked ratio. When a form specifies both pixels and a maximum file size, crop first and compress the PNG afterwards.
Quality and metadata
The editor copies the pixels inside the crop box and writes a PNG. It does not upscale, sharpen or colour-correct. EXIF data such as camera model and location is not preserved in the exported PNG, which is helpful for privacy but means the file loses that metadata.
Colour can shift if the source uses a wide-gamut profile that the browser does not map identically to the PNG. For ordinary web photos the difference is small; for print work, check the exported file in your layout application.
For print, export at the final pixel size rather than enlarging later. Check the preview at 100 percent before you download.
