Dhaka University admission photo tool
This tool prepares a photo for the Dhaka University (DU) admission application. It crops to the selected preset, converts the image to JPEG and compresses it toward the stored file-size window. You can use it on a phone or a computer; the processed image downloads to your device.
The page uses a fixed DU preset rather than asking you to type dimensions. Pick the photo type, upload your image, adjust the crop so the face is centred, then process and download.

Stored DU photo presets
The preset record contains four photo variants. The table shows the stored values; your application portal may ask for one specific variant.
| Variant | Width | Height | File size | Format | DPI |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| DU photo 460×600 | 460 px | 600 px | 50–500 KB | JPEG | 96 |
| DU photo 480×620 | 480 px | 620 px | 50–500 KB | JPEG | 96 |
| DU photo 360×540 | 360 px | 540 px | 50–500 KB | JPEG | 96 |
| DU photo 540×720 | 540 px | 720 px | 50–500 KB | JPEG | 96 |
Check the current notice. The stored preset used by this tool lists 50–500 KB. Older copy on this page mentioned 30–200 KB and a 360–540 by 540–720 range. The admission portal's current notice is the authority; confirm the figure there before uploading. The stored preset has not been changed.
How to prepare the photo
Use a recent colour photo with a plain light background. Face the camera, keep your eyes open and avoid hats, heavy shadows and filters. A soft, even light is better than a harsh flash. The face should fill most of the frame without cropping the top of the head or the chin.
Upload the original rather than a screenshot of the photo. A screenshot adds a second compression pass and may include borders or interface elements. If the image is rotated, rotate it before cropping so the head is upright.
Crop tightly to the selected ratio, then check the preview at full size. The tool resizes to the preset, so a very small source may look soft. A larger source gives the resizer more pixels to work with.
Common upload errors
A portal may reject a photo because the dimensions do not match, the file is outside the KB window, or the format is not JPEG. It may also reject a photo where the face is too small, the background is busy or the image is blurry.
If the file is too large, lower the quality or crop closer before processing. If it is too small, start from a larger source rather than enlarging the compressed output. If the portal asks for a different pixel size, choose the matching preset instead of forcing the wrong one.
Before you upload
Open the downloaded file and confirm its width, height and size. Check that the face is clear and the background is clean. Keep the original photo until the application has accepted the image, because a rejected upload may need a fresh crop.
The tool does not submit the form or store your application. It only produces the image file.
