DU admission photo and signature tool
This page crops, resizes, converts and compresses a photo or signature for a Delhi University application. The selector contains stored presets for DU and for CUET variants, so choose the row that matches the form in front of you rather than assuming every row is a DU requirement.
Stored presets in the selector
| Document | Stored dimensions | Stored file size | Format |
|---|---|---|---|
| DU photo | 100 × 130 px (width × height) | 50–500 KB | JPEG |
| DU photo (alternate) | 2 × 2 inch | 50–500 KB | JPEG |
| DU signature | 140 × 60 px | 50–500 KB | JPEG |
| CUET photo variant | 3.5 × 4.5 cm at 200 DPI | 10–200 KB | JPEG |
| CUET signature variant | 3.5 × 1.5 cm at 200 DPI | 4–30 KB | JPEG |
These figures are the values stored in this tool. They are not a quotation from the current DU admission bulletin, and the portal notice is the authority for the cycle you are applying to. The older page copy mentions a 130 × 100 photo and a 60 × 140 signature; that is the same pair of dimensions with the order reversed. Check which value your form calls width and which it calls height before you crop.
How to use the tool
- Select the DU photo or signature preset, or the matching CUET variant.
- Upload a clear original and position the crop box.
- Let the tool resize, convert to JPEG and compress toward the stored size range.
- Download the result and check its pixel dimensions and file size.
- Upload it to the portal and read the portal's own validation message.
Keep the original file. If the portal rejects the converted copy, you can try a different crop or quality without rescanning the document.
Common rejection reasons
A photo that is sharp on screen can still fail because the width and height are swapped, because the file is a PNG with a .jpg name, or because the compressed copy fell below the stored minimum. A signature can fail when the stroke is too close to the edge or when a shadow makes the background grey rather than white.
The portal may also have changed its limits since the preset was stored. If the form states a different pixel size or file weight, follow the form. The archived 2018 DU step-by-step guide linked below is kept for reference only; it is not a current-cycle notice.
