The stored NYSC record contains one photo preset and no signature preset. If your portal asks for a signature, do not use the photo preset for it.

Stored NYSC preset

The stored preset is a 2×2 inch photo, JPEG at 96 DPI, with a maximum of 8 KB. The minimum size is not set in the stored record.

These are stored values. The NYSC portal and current instruction are the authority; confirm the figure before uploading. The preset has not been changed.

How to use it

Upload a recent colour photo with a plain light background. Crop so the face is centred and the head and shoulders fit the square. Process the image, download it and check the dimensions and KB size before uploading.

A 2×2 inch preset at 96 DPI is a small file. Starting from a very large photo is fine, but the result will still be reduced to the preset. Starting from a tiny screenshot will look soft.

Photo tips

Face the camera with your eyes open and a neutral expression. Avoid hats, heavy shadows, filters and screenshots. A plain background and even light matter more than a high-end camera. Keep the original image until the application accepts the upload.

Why the square crop matters

A square preset is less forgiving than a portrait crop. Centre the face, keep both ears visible where possible and leave a little space above the head. If the first crop cuts the chin or the forehead, undo it and start from the original rather than stretching the compressed result.
