WAEC GCE photo tool

This tool prepares a photo or signature for the WAEC GCE registration. It crops to a selected WAEC preset, converts the image to JPEG and compresses it toward the stored size window. The processed file downloads to your device.

The GCE page uses the shared WAEC preset record. That record also contains WASSCE variants, so the list can show sizes that belong to another WAEC registration. Pick the GCE entry or the exact size in your instruction.

Shared WAEC preset warning

The stored record includes 160×200, 240×280, 275×314 and 120×140 pixel photo variants, plus a 250×150 pixel signature. It does not label them GCE or WASSCE in the file name. Do not assume the first variant is the GCE one.

These are stored values. The GCE candidate instruction and portal are the authority; confirm the current figure before uploading. The preset has not been changed.

How to use it

Open the preset list and choose the variant that matches your GCE instruction. Upload a recent colour photo on a plain background, crop so the face is centred and process the file. Download it and check the dimensions and KB size before uploading.

For a signature, use dark ink on white paper, photograph it straight on and crop tightly around the strokes. A faint or shadowed signature may fail even when the file size is correct.

Common errors

A portal may reject the file because the variant, KB size or format does not match its current rule. It may also reject a photo with a busy background, a small face or a heavy filter. Keep the original image for another attempt.

Check the GCE cycle

GCE registration windows and portal versions change, and old tutorials often copy WASSCE figures. Open the current GCE instruction before choosing a preset. If it names a size that is not in the shared list, use a custom-size tool and keep the original photo so you can produce a fresh file without another photo session.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

Short answers for the questions users ask before trusting the result.

Use the one named in your GCE instruction. The shared record also contains WASSCE variants, so read the label.

160×200, 240×280, 275×314 and 120×140 px variants. Confirm the GCE notice for the current one.

250×150 px, 8–15 KB, JPEG.

Only if the GCE instruction names that size. Do not guess from the label alone.

No. It only creates the image file.

Check the current GCE dimensions, KB limit and format in the official instruction.
